Construction of the multi-functional “Spektrum” center is under way in Hovås just outside Gothenburg. The unusual golden exterior consists of gold-anodized profiles, with each profile and mounting being unique. This creates an irregular shape that could almost be described as a crystal.
The total number of profiles included in the façade is over 1,600!
In order to handle the huge quantity of data this involves, we made use of parameter-governed design in the planning process, initially sketching the geometry as a thread model in Rhino/Grasshopper, and then selecting parameters in order to automate the production data in Solidworks. Planning and design work that would otherwise have taken years could thus be reduced to a fraction of the time.
