Skandinaviska Glassystem

CLARION HOTEL POST, Gothenburg

The building is the historical main Post Office that has been restored externally and rebuilt to a modern hotel internally.

In the court yard of the old building raises a new 13 story tower. The tower is vertically divided by a glass slit, separating the two different façades.

Facing north the tower has a slate- and glass cladding and the south is covered with pre oxidized copper and glass.

“The challenge was to maintain a constant logistic flow all through the project” says Jerker Lundgren, the project leader at Skandinaviska Glassystem.

There is no room on site to store any materials. All façade elements will there for be pre manufactured in Skandinaviska Glassystem’s factory in Lysekil and transported to the site in a specific installation order.
