Södertörns Bibliotek, Stockholm

Yet another stage of the Södertörn University has been completed and inaugurated. In September this year the new University library was opened – a public meeting place for university students and for the creative process generated by the meetings with new knowledge.

Over the years, libraries have frequently reflected the architectonic orientation current for the times. This library displays clearly the integrity of the architect and, most importantly, courageous new thinking within a given framework – i.e. creativity. In a creative process there is no right or wrong, such considerations must be relegated for analysis by the logical process at a later date.

The library’s system of stairways for movement inside the building and for outflow from the building has been designed according to this insight. The architects have abandoned the principle of the right way of doing things for a new one – there is no right or wrong way.
