Scandic Flesland, Bergen
One of the latest additions to the Scandic hotel chain’s Norwegian portfolio is Scandic Flesland, close to Bergen airport. Scandic Flesland was finished in 2017 and is one of the largest conference hotels in the country. The building has an ambitious environmental profile, and in order to satisfy the demanding insulation requirements SGS is supplying a unique modular façade utilizing a sandwich solution that yields a low Ucw value. All the façade elements were manufactured at our factory in Lysekil, thus minimizing installation time on site. To optimize the solar heat load electro chromogenic glass is used in the most exposed areas of the facade. The electro chromogenic glass can be controlled to dim from almost transparent to very dark depending on how strong the sunshine is. By choosing this technique external sunshades can be skipped, minimizing maintenance and maximizing occupants comfort and view to the outside.
