In the great race of modernizing the major shopping centers in the Stockholm region, Sollentuna Centrum is one of the first out. To restore and produce a new shopping centre whilst it’s still open to the public, might be an impossible mission, but at the same time a great challenge.
Skandinaviska Glassystem received the contract of the “exterior skin” for the new Sollentuna Centrum. This prestigious assignment entails a total construction contract for the entire glazing of the building, an area of approx. 10.000 m² single glass panels, 2.600m² DGU insulation panes, metal partitions, glass canopies, exterior glass banisters, interior glazing, interior glass banisters etc.
To create a slim modern centre, Thorbjörnsson & Edgren Arkitekter, the design architects, have elected to face the whole building in single glass panels in three different shades of white. The panels are in general placed on different distances from the structure to add movement in the façade. In order to add interior light, openings are placed throughout the façade, containing insulation panes, metal partitions, doors and entrances.
