Alsik Hotel

By the water in Sønderborg in the very south of Denmark lies Alsik Hotel.

The project is drawn by well renowned Henning Larsen Architects and is inspired by the surrounding cityscape. The 18 floor building houses 190 hotel rooms, a spa and wellness center, as well as a viewing deck with striking views of the city. The Alsik building gains its characteristic expression from the perforated, kinked metal plates creating a raster which breaks up the flat surfaces of the façade.

SG delivered the complete climate shell of the building, mainly made up of prefabricated modules designed according to SGs new energy efficient Prewall concept. Per Kongsbak, SGs area manager for Denmark says;

“We´re constantly striving to develop more energy efficient facades. Thereby we´re able to offer the market facades which fulfill not only todays but also tomorrows high environmental demands. At the same time the percentage of glass in the facade can be increased and thereby more natural light can be utilized. The Prewall concept used for Alsik is the latest addition to our product portfolio.”

The modular façade concept has many advantages compared to an in-place built façade. As the modules are delivered to building site complete with cladding the mounting can be swift and efficient. This results in a dry, waterproof façade that requires a minimum of finishing work.
